HET HEM

Exhibition for @Het-Hem
Project guided by @studio_ossidiana

‘Het Hem‘ was a former bullet factory during the WW2,
which has turned into a creative space for artists and to the public. While researching the site, the concept of naming the space as creative from a place that was used for manufacturing elements that can hurt others facinated me. Same building,
but by defining the space differently, the character of the space changes completly.

Like wise, the work was to show the metaphor or the characteristics of the space in my own way. Finding the tree trunks around the site, started excavating the trunk in the middle creating wood dusts, and putting the dust back inside. The process itself led to finding traces from the tree that has been in the location for decades.

The question still remains as could the work be regarded as art piece with the interventions that were made, and me giving the character as sybol of the location being transformed.
